Punk.London 40 years of sub-versive culture

I wanna be Anarchy, in the city”. E per chiunque, nel novembre 1976, era chiaro che la city di cui si stava parlando era quella di Londra.Punk.

A quarant’anni di distanza dali tornerà a parlare di punk a Londra, con l’iniziativa unificata delle principali istituzioni londinesi denominata Punk.London.
Punk.London è un’iniziati di diverse istituzioni inglesi che si uniscono nel 2016 per  festeggiare i 40 del punk inglese .

Ci saranno concerti, conferenze, film e mostre per tutto il 2016.

Punk.London inizierà il 4 di gennaio al The 100 Club, la location che nel settembre ’76 ospitò il 100 Club Punk Special, maxi festival punk di due giorni che coinvolse tutti i nomi più importanti del movimento, dai Sex Pistols ai Clash. Fino al 14 di gennaio, infatti, il locale ospiterà il Resolution Festival.

A supportare la manifestazione sono chiamate le principali organizzazioni della città di Londra, che comprendono istituti, musei, galleria e case discografiche.
La parte interessante sarà che chiunque, in pieno stile DIY, potrà organizzare un evento e inserirlo nel calendario di The Culture Diary , segnalandolo come “Punk 2016”.
Si potrà essere inseriti così nel calendario degli eventi ufficiale di Punk.London.

“London calling to the faraway towns” The Clash On this day in 1976 the Sex Pistols released their infamous debut single ‘Anarchy in the UK’. Today London’s leading cultural venues announced plans to celebrate the legacy and continuing influence of London’s punk scene throughout 2016. Live gigs, talks, films, exhibitions and museum displays are all part of a year-long celebration of subversive culture. Not only will punk’s roots in London be explored, but also its on-going influence on modern day culture and society, from fashion to film, politics to identity, and of course music. Punk London will kick off with the Resolution Festival from 4 to 14 January 2016 at The 100 Club, the world-renowned music venue that hosted the legendary two-day 100 Club Punk Festival in September 1976. Other organisations involved in Punk London include the British Fashion Council, British Film Institute, British Library, Design Museum, Doc ‘n Roll Films, Institute of Contemporary Arts, Live Nation Merchandise, Museum of London, The Photographers’ Gallery, Rough Trade, PYMCA, Premier and On|Off, Roundhouse and Universal Music Catalogue. In keeping with punk’s grass roots ethos, punk fans up and down the country are being encouraged to create their own events. Anyone wishing to host an event can register via the Punk.London website at www.punk.london/diy. A new Punk London logo and type face, designed by punk-influenced graphic designed Neville Brody, has been commissioned for the year.
